Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and with the continual increase of youth participation, we feel everyone should have the chance to be taught in an exciting and fun environment. In 2012, US Lacrosse reported that its member population was 98% white, revealing a gaping need for diversification of the game. While other sports for girls such as basketball, soccer or track more proportionally mirror the ethnic makeup of the general population, lacrosse lags behind. With the emergence of college lacrosse programs across the nation comes more opportunities for these young athletes who would not otherwise have access to learn the game of Lacrosse. In particular, our organization embraces the expansion of women's lacrosse and aims to help girls discover their potential to succeed in the sport and also in life.
Step Up Lacrosse Charity welcomes the challenge to instill a sense of confidence in these young players in hopes that they will develop the same passion for the sport that our entire coaching staff has embodied throughout their careers. Being able to learn the skills of the game in a positive atmosphere provides the optimal lacrosse experience we believe every young person deserves, no matter their economic circumstance. We want every athlete to be able to proclaim our tried and true motto: “DON'T BACK DOWN, STEP UP!”, as they reach higher and further for success.
